A notary public or scribe is a jurist authorized by law to attest to contracts and other extrajudicial acts of a civil and commercial nature, as well as to advise those who come to him, draft deeds and minutes, prepare wills, and keep notarial records. He is required, by law and by professional ethics, to maintain neutrality in his actions.
